About The Position

Awaken Christian Academy is seeking a part-time, on-call Security Guard to help protect students, staff, and guests and maintain a secure, welcoming, and peaceful environment across its church and school campus. The position works primarily Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Security Guard is expected to model Christian beliefs, thoughts, and actions on and off the job. This is an armed security position requiring concealed carry.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to remain calm, observant, and decisive under pressure.
Familiarity with conflict de-escalation and emergency protocols.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to Jesus Christ and a calling to serve in ministry.
Integrity, discernment, and humility.
A servant-leader approach that values teamwork, safety, and discretion.
Ability to apply Biblical principles to real-life situations.
Must be able to operate as an armed security person in a concealed-carry fashion.

Nice To Haves

Three or more years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field.
Prior experience working in a church, school, or public setting.
Active or previous guard card, or willingness to obtain one.
Active CCW permit, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Patrol assigned interior and exterior campus areas during assigned shifts.
Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to ensure proper access and prevent unauthorized entry.
Maintain communication with school leadership, administrative staff, and fellow security personnel.
Respond quickly and appropriately to disturbances, suspicious activity, or emergencies.
Assist with crowd control during events and school activities.
Lock and unlock buildings and gates as scheduled.
Submit incident reports and safety updates to the Security Director.
Be familiar with and help enforce Awaken’s safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a visible, reassuring presence during school days and events.
Build rapport with staff, volunteers, students, parents, and visitors.
Support incident resolution with professionalism and discretion.
