Requirements

  • Knowledge of public safety procedures and security operations
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and follow instructions
  • Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with patients, families, staff, visitors, and the general public
  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals who may have impaired cognition
  • Two to three years of security experience required
  • Flexibility to work - days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work at multiple locations if needed
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license required
  • Active Connecticut State Guard Card required

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Patrol premises and monitor surveillance equipment to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and access points while permitting authorized entry
  • Report irregularities, policy violations, and unsafe conditions
  • Assist in preventing loss or damage to property
  • Open and secure health center facilities, including activating/deactivating security systems and lights
  • Unlock designated doors for staff entry and secure buildings at the close of business
  • Follow evacuation procedures as directed by the Director of Facilities
  • Work according to department schedules and staffing needs
  • Attend departmental and organization-wide meetings as required
  • Comply with organizational policies, Infection Control standards, OSHA regulations, and DPH requirements
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
