About The Position

This position is responsible for helping the efficient operation of the Security Services Department for Highland-Clarksburg Hospital (HCHI). The primary responsibility is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all persons on the property and for the property itself. This position assists other departments with security-related occurrences and concerns.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job.
May be required to obtain a GED within six months of hire.
Ability to perform effectively under often stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

Associates degree or college course work preferred.
Prior security experience and/or training preferred.
Prior Health Care Security Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Initiates positive customer service interaction and provides appropriate assistance to hospital patients, visitors and staff to facilitate orderly and efficient access to HCHI facilities in accordance with HCHI policies and procedures.
Maintains consistent visibility and presence at assigned location(s) responding to all patient, visitor and staff requests for information/assistance in a caring, courteous manner, 100% of the time.
Provides physical assistance to staff as needed to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Monitors and maintains traffic flow in parking areas and roadways by assisting disabled vehicles, issuing parking permits and warning violations.
Protects people and property by assisting in the prevention of accidents, theft and vandalism, in accordance with HCHI policies and procedures.
Maintains consistent presence and visibility by performing routine building rounds, building door unlocks, exterior building and parking lot patrol.
Makes recommendations to management, staff, visitors and patients to improve security and prevent accidents and crime.
Reports suspicious situations, circumstances, incidents and persons, according to policy and procedures.
Provides written documentation of activities, incidents, premises safety, accidents, theft, vandalism and other data requested by supervision in a factual, objective, and legible manner.
Responds to and provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff during emergency situations such as assaults, domestic disputes, fire, vandalism, bomb threats, theft, vehicle accidents, disasters, etc.
Watches video security monitors carefully and diligently to identify safety and security issues that arise and takes timely and appropriate action to mitigate any concerns observed. Reports the same to superiors in accordance with policies and procedures.
Incident reporting, routine building rounds, incident investigation, crowd control, may assist with restraining patients, disaster response, domestic disputes, parking enforcement, consistence presence and visibility, victim assistance, policy enforcement, investigation of alarms, parking lot rounds, effective radio communication, loss prevention, etc.
