About The Position

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 with a mandate to provide meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians, primarily in security guard and related services. CGL serves Central and Southwestern Ontario, offering customized security solutions including uniformed guards, mobile response, by-law enforcement, and identification services. This posting is for an existing vacancy for a Commissionaire to join their growing team. The role requires a commitment to serving clients and employees to enhance the organization's success.

Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed and submitted prior to the start date.
  • Must be able to drive Golf cart
  • Must be able to lift up-to 25 lbs
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time and complete frequent patrols
  • The ability to work alone while maintaining a high level of service to the client is essential
  • Comfortable working within detailed, procedure-driven site and exercising sound judgment when situations fall outside standard parameters
  • Experience with digital security reporting and incident logging tools
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholder groups simultaneously with professionalism and discretion
  • A service-oriented mindset — comfortable being approachable and community-facing, not just enforcement-focused
  • Highly reliable

Responsibilities

  • Ensure access control policies and procedures are followed and client property is secured
  • Monitor CCTV cameras
  • Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
  • Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
  • Maintain effective communication
  • Respond to alarms and calls for assistance
  • Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors
  • Regular interior and exterior foot patrols
  • Manage vehicle traffic and pedestrian flow during peak periods throughout the year, including drop-off and pick-up, special events, and contractor deliveries
  • Enforce parking policies, manage gate arm operations, and deploy traffic control signage as required
  • Verify and manage facility access for multiple stakeholder groups in accordance with daily booking schedules and access protocols
  • Oversee contractor activity after hours, including verifying approvals, managing key and fob issuance, and conducting follow-up documentation
  • Execute scheduled door unlocks, gate arm openings, and facility setups in accordance with daily operational requirements
  • Provide assistance to and manage interactions across a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment with professionalism and discretion
  • Accurately categorize and document incidents and relevant activities using digital reporting systems, ensuring timely and detailed reporting.
  • Review and interpret daily booking schedules and operational reports to proactively manage access and anticipate traffic and security needs
  • Other duties as may be required by the client
