Position Summary The Casual Tactical Security Officer provides a visible, professional security presence to protect people, property, and assets. The role focuses on proactive patrols, incident response, and conflict de-escalation to maintain a safe and secure environment in high-traffic or high-risk settings.

Requirements

  • Valid Alberta Security Licence
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • CTSS (Level 2) or PPCT certification
  • AVERT (or MOAB/NVCI equivalent) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of security experience
  • Tactical training required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8–12 hours)
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-stress situations
  • Professional demeanor with strong attention to detail and situational awareness
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-traffic environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in tactical or high-profile security environments
  • Experience in retail security or loss prevention
  • Additional de-escalation or crisis intervention training
  • Experience with CCTV systems and incident reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic, high-pressure settings

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner
  • Ability to utilize tact and diplomacy when on duty
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive
  • Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures
  • Solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures
  • Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner
  • Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters
  • Able to conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot
  • Investigate incidents and occurrences
  • Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports
  • Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, and clients on the property
  • Monitor CCTV surveillance systems
  • De-escalate emergency/crisis situations
  • Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel
  • Access control, line management, customer service
  • Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed
