Under the supervision of the Campus Security Safety Supervisor (Security Supervisor), responsible for providing leadership and administrative support to security personnel ensuring collaboration and consistency across all shifts. Requirements

High school graduation or GED
Three years of experience in areas of work such as: security guard, military, correctional officer, store investigation, police officer (military or civilian), police reserve officer or other security / law enforcement work.
A valid Enhanced Washington State Driver's License.
Must be willing and able to acquire and possess a firearm and ammunition, as well as, willing to carry and use the firearm in a safe and appropriate manner.
Responsible for maintaining the legal, physical and mental ability to possess a firearm while on duty.
Must successfully complete prescribed firearms qualifications training within the 6-month probationary or trial service period.
Must be willing and able to successfully complete mandatory follow-up training and annual weapons qualification requirements.
Willing and able to obtain/maintain a current American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate or equivalent.
Must be willing and able to participate in and pass a pre-employment physical abilities standardized test and annual re-certification tests thereafter, in accordance with program requirements.
The PAT events include completion of 19 push-ups in two minutes or under and completion of a 1.5 mile run in 17.3 minutes or under.
Must comply with Department policies and procedures governing workplace conduct.
Must be willing to wear uniforms provided by the Washington Military Department.
No Felony Convictions (Convictions under the age of 18 may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
No Misdemeanor Convictions involving theft, crimes of violence, larceny, moral turpitude, sex offenses, or controlled substances regardless of time frame (Convictions under the age of 21 may be considered on a case-by-case basis.).
No Domestic Violence Convictions regardless of timeframe.
No DUI, Reckless Driving, Vehicular Assault, or Hit-and-Run Convictions within the last 5 years.

Nice To Haves

One year of lead or supervisor experience.
A certification of successful completion of a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission; or a certificate of completion in a policy or reserve academy or military training program will substitute for one year of the three years of the required experience.
Use word processing software such as Microsoft Word.
Basic understanding of computer-supported and automated security program operations.
Be proficient in computer supported and automated security program operations related to access control systems.

Gather information, develop accurate written incident / investigative reports and follow up on security incidents. Use word processing software, such as Microsoft Word to create, format, edit, preview, print, and save documents. Use standard functions to select, edit, copy, paste, format, and spell check text. Create bulleted and numbered lists, indent and align paragraphs, and use bordering and shading features. Basic understanding of computer-supported and automated security program operations. Be proficient in computer supported and automated security program operations related to access control systems. Physically, mentally, and legally possess a weapon as part of their assigned job duties. This includes the ability to exercise sound/prudent judgment in potential use of force situations.
Physical Demands: Skills and abilities to: Routinely work a 40-hour week to provide ongoing customer and program support. Obtain and maintain a basic first aid and CPR certification to ensure trained staff is available to respond to basic first aid until appropriate medical response arrives. Screen incoming traffic to assess required authorization to access the installation. This includes reading license plates, verifying picture identification, and observing occupants to detect actual or suspicious/dangerous actions, items or other violations that would ban entrance. Must be able to discriminate between vivid red and green colors. Must be able to hear accurately to decipher radio traffic, hear vehicle approaching, understand occupants’ responses, detect warning sounds/alarms, ascertain sound direction, and recognize related danger. Execute a full range of physical motions to successfully complete defensive tactics and rescue operations. Walk or stand for long periods of time while working at the guard shack, directing traffic and/or doing searches of vehicles, buildings, and large outdoor areas. Work outside in all types of weather to provide required gate access control/staffing. Manual Dexterity – Writing, light keyboarding, and use of a personal computer/software related to word processing and issuing I.D. cards. Communicate with employees and visitors either face-to-face or by radio and telephone, as necessary, to ensure quick response to security related situations. May require periods of great physical effort in completing essential functions and / or responding to security issues.

No possession of non-prescribed drugs while employed or after having been employed in a commissioned capacity by a law enforcement agency, regardless of time frame, (including a military position with law enforcement powers).
No possession on anabolic steroids within the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

Security shift supervisor for day, swing, or graveyard shift providing leadership and administrative support to assigned personnel.
Collaborates with supervisors and other security personnel across all shifts ensuring communication and consistency of the security program.
Provides installation access control at one of several access control points following prescribed security instructions and access control policies.
Patrols, inspects, and monitors building, grounds, and roadways; responds to incidents/emergencies; provides other required services to ensure that safety and security of installation personnel/visitors, facilities, equipment, and information.
Gathers information and writes accurate incident/investigative reports for review/action by supervisory personnel.
Supports additional security requirements for National Guard and State emergency/disaster response drills, exercises, special events, and training.
Supports the Camp Murray Joint Security Initiative combining Federal and State resources for a holistic effort to installation security.
