•$168,000 - $210,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Remitly is seeking an AI-forward Security Engineer to join Security Platforms, a team within Security & Privacy that builds shared systems for security teams. The team aims to ensure every asset and identity has a known owner, routine security work runs through automated and audited services, and AI guardrails are built into tooling. The Security Engineer will design, build, and operate production services that make secure practices the default for Remitly engineers, employees, and AI agents. Working alongside a Staff Security Engineer, this person will turn internal security tools into supported services used across the company. The role calls for software engineering, cloud security, and agentic development skills, along with curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools. Corporate team members are expected to work in the office at least 50% of the time monthly, typically three days per week. Managers may set higher in-office expectations based on team needs.

Requirements

  • Experience building, operating, and supporting production services through software engineering.
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python or Golang.
  • Experience building security automation or risk-detection tooling.
  • Hands-on experience delivering production or open-source software through agentic development.
  • Experience designing data models and APIs used by other teams.
  • Experience building on cloud-native infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of at least one security area, such as cloud and infrastructure, identity and access, or application security, and relevant industry frameworks.
  • Clear communication with engineers and partners, and experience influencing other teams without formal authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or CrewAI, or experience building tools and MCP servers for AI agents.
  • Curiosity beyond the day job, demonstrated by experimenting, building, and keeping current with open-source projects and new security tools.

Responsibilities

  • Build services and data pipelines that assign named owners to devices, cloud assets, SaaS applications, AI systems, and non-human identities, routing findings to the appropriate teams.
  • Develop agents and workflows to automate security and privacy design reviews and vulnerability triage.
  • Build managed settings, hooks, and approval paths for AI agents, connectors, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
  • Move security scripts and scheduled jobs onto an audited automation platform with human approval steps, and provide production-service testing, monitoring, and on-call coverage.
  • Partner with infrastructure, IT, and product engineering teams to integrate the platform into their workflows and use their feedback to guide development.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and participate in design reviews.
  • Keep runbooks current and help engineers across Security & Privacy build with agents and code.

Benefits

  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching.
  • Paid parental, medical, military, and family care leave.
  • Mental health and family-forming benefits.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • Continuing education.
  • Company equity as part of total compensation.
