About The Position

This full-time position will take direction from police officers and assist the Secure Transport Investigations Unit as needed. The selected candidate will be required to have knowledge and understanding of MDH policies and procedures. This position will, as directed, implement crime scene procedures, evidence retention, and complete comprehensive investigative reports. The selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate State vehicles and provide medical and judicial transport for forensic patients. This position requires good writing and oral communication skills and will also be mandated to work various extra duty (medical, hospital, court assignment etc.) assignments as needed for the good of the Agency.

Requirements

High School diploma or high school equivalency certificate
Two years of experience providing security to patients, inmates or youths committed by courts to psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities or juvenile detention centers
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate State vehicles
Good writing and oral communication skills
U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status
At least 21 years of age
Completed background investigation
Oral interview
Physical examination
Provide the facility with a telephone number where they can be reached
Subject to substance abuse testing

Nice To Haves

Some positions in this classification may be required to operate large vans to transport patients. Employees assigned these duties will be required to obtain a Maryland driver's license of the appropriate class for this type of vehicle.
