Seasonal Security Associate
About The Position
Uncommon Goods is hiring temporary, full-time Security Officers for its Brooklyn headquarters in Sunset Park. This fully onsite role helps maintain a safe environment for team members by controlling access, patrolling, staffing fixed posts, monitoring surveillance equipment, and reporting and documenting incidents. Security Officers build positive relationships onsite, use de-escalation tactics when needed, and remain composed during emergencies. The role pays $22 per hour. The site operates from 6 AM to 12 AM, with morning and evening shifts available. Weekend availability on Saturday and Sunday is required; weekend-only shifts are also available.
Requirements
- Valid, current New York State Security Guard License.
- Weekend availability on Saturday and Sunday.
- Strong communication skills with managers, visitors, coworkers, and team members.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Open availability for all days and shifts.
- At least one year of security experience, such as loss prevention, surveillance, foot patrols, fire safety, or site protection, or military/first responder experience.
- Fireguard/FDNY certification, CPR certification, or safety certifications such as OSHA.
Responsibilities
- Secure the premises and protect personnel.
- Patrol multi-floor areas.
- Monitor surveillance equipment.
- Inspect warehouse and office equipment and activity.
- Report irregularities and safety hazards to help prevent losses and damages.
- Advise personnel of policies and procedures.
- Document incidents.
- Sign guests in and out, answer phones, and maintain logs.
- Issue equipment and restock PPE supplies.
- Direct traffic and perform other front-line duties as needed.
