About The Position

Merchant & Gould is currently seeking an IT Security Administrator. The salary range for the position is $100,000 - $125,000, based on years of experience. The Security Administrator is responsible for administering and improving the firm's security posture across Microsoft 365, email security platforms, endpoints, and related systems. This role focuses on implementing controls, monitoring threats, enforcing security policies, and protecting firm and client data. Working closely with the IT Director, Desktop Support team, Systems Administrators, and business stakeholders, the Security Administrator evaluates emerging security technologies, recommends solutions that strengthen the firm's security posture, and assists in planning and implementing security initiatives that align with organizational objectives. In order to perform one (1) or more essential functions of this role, a minimum of three (3) days in the office is required.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of IT security or systems administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 security administration.
  • Experience with Mimecast, Proofpoint, or similar email security platform.
  • Experience with Intune, or comparable endpoint management tools.
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management.
  • Experience investigating and responding to security incidents.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IDR/MDR and SIEM platforms.
  • Experience with modern firewall technologies.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Microsoft 365 security including Conditional Access, identity protection, Defender, and access controls.
  • Administer email policies including phishing protection, spam filtering, and related email security controls.
  • Manage endpoint security using Intune, Defender, and browser security policies including extension governance.
  • Monitor security events using SIEM and other security platforms; investigate and respond to incidents.
  • Support firewall and network security platforms in coordination with senior IT staff.
  • Implement and maintain security policies, documentation, and compliance-related procedures.
  • Evaluate emerging cybersecurity technologies, services, and best practices to improve the firm's security posture.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept testing, security assessments, and implementation planning.
  • Assist in developing technology roadmaps and security standards with IT leadership.
  • Partner with Desktop Support and Systems Administration teams to design, implement, and maintain secure technology solutions.
  • Collaborate on vulnerability remediation, endpoint hardening, identity and access management, and security configuration standards.
  • Share knowledge and technical guidance with IT staff on security best practices and emerging threats.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to ensure security requirements are incorporated into new initiatives.
