About The Position

Seeking a Security Access Control Installation Technician to support construction projects by installing, terminating, and commissioning security, access control, voice/data, and other low-voltage systems for our customers. This role involves reading blueprints, installing system components, running cables, mounting panels, testing circuits and sensors, and ensuring proper functioning of security features. The technician will also be responsible for acquiring and maintaining necessary tools, learning to use specific equipment, meeting installation deadlines, tracking time accurately, and adhering to all safety programs and policies. Additional duties may include site inspections, hand programming low voltage systems, directing other installers, communicating with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ), and potentially some out-of-town travel.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of installation experience in access control.
  • Participate in required DynaFire sponsored training.
  • Acquire and maintain the required tools on the tool list.
  • Learn to use fish tape, ohmmeters, power drills, and screwdrivers.
  • Full compliance with company's and customer's safety program and policies.
  • Full compliance of DynaFire's policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • May be requested to share in serving as a trainer in the DynaFire sponsored training.
  • Consider going to manufacturing training to become certified in a DynaFire low voltage system.
  • May be some out of town travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and commission security, access control, voice/data, and other low-voltage systems.
  • Read blueprints of low voltage systems and how related to the layout of a building.
  • Install components such as access control, antennas, video cameras, and door contacts.
  • Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, floors, etc.
  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, wall cavities, conduit, j-hooks, bridle rings, etc.
  • Mount and fasten control panels.
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors by following wiring and system specifications.
  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures under the supervision of a project manager or foreman.
  • Test batteries, keypad and annunciators, and security features to ensure proper functioning and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Acquire and maintain the required tools on the tool list.
  • Learn to use fish tape, ohmmeters, power drills, and screwdrivers.
  • Meet installation deadlines as described by the project manager, or superintendent.
  • Accurate daily tracking of time via ExakTime.
  • Full compliance with company's and customer's safety program and policies.
  • Full compliance of DynaFire's policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by DynaFire.
  • Hand program low voltage systems.
  • Direct other installers if requested by project manager, or superintendent.
  • Communicate effectively with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
