About The Position

This position is for a full-time Secretary in Rehabilitation Services, working day shifts. The role involves scheduling outpatient appointments, obtaining and verifying insurance and billing information, maintaining high accuracy in data processing, providing phone reception, managing and scanning chart notes, registering patient accounts, performing front desk duties, and supporting a collaborative team environment. The job requires the ability to work independently and with others, prioritize tasks, and handle stressful situations effectively.

Requirements

  • Ability to type 70 wpm
  • Experience in data entry, computer, and word processing
  • Excellent spelling and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and attend to detail

  • Adequate reaction time to respond quickly to unexpected patient care situations
  • Ability to walk/maneuver frequently in and around the building
  • Ability to operate several different desktop devices, computer, scanner, phone etc.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules outpatient appointments with scheduling tools and per department protocol.
  • Obtains and verifies insurance and billing information, processing information accurately for all insurance types.
  • Maintains >95% accuracy in job functions.
  • Provides phone reception utilizing excellent service excellence techniques.
  • Creates, manages, and scans chart notes to assist clinicians with patient care and maintain records according to regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Registers patient accounts and audits/monitors information for accuracy and proper billing.
  • Provides front desk reception duties, including leadership when situations have the potential to escalate.
  • Performs all job functions in a timely, efficient, and effective manner as part of a team.
  • Supports a collaborative and cooperative environment to facilitate mutual respect and effective interpersonal relations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
