Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years of progressively more responsible experience, including interactions with students and the public in stressful situations; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training, as determined by the hiring authority preferred.
  • Knowledge of English and Spanish, spelling, composition, grammar and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of current School nutrition/Child Nutrition practices and procedures and office management.
  • Knowledge and ability to use District and Nutrition Service Data Software and management systems.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment and machines, specifically (10 Key).
  • Knowledge of record-keeping and reporting procedures.
  • Ability to respond to the public in a courteous, efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a schedule of the immediate supervisor’s calendar of appointments and arranges for meetings.
  • Supervises and evaluates meal application processing for North Wasco School Nutrition Services.
  • Conducts annual verification of confidential family applications for free and reduced-price meals as required by Federal law following Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Program times and Acts.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for the Nutrition Services Department in matters pertaining to the meal application/verification process and training to principals/school staff and Nutrition Services.
  • Generates detailed record keeping and distributes notification letters, forms and reports required for both application processing and income verification.
  • Conducts audits to ensure that the district and all schools are in compliance with federal and state regulations in the meal application/verification process.
  • Contacts and consults with other government and community agencies and programs in matters pertaining to application processing and income certification including SNAP and TANF.
  • Assists Director in planning, organizing and conducting workshops, in-service education and on the job training along with the director, as needed for department and district personnel on point-of-sale software and production software to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Complete regular school meal monitoring responsibilities including assisting with annual reviews and supper audits, making recommendations to assigned Site Leads regarding resolutions for potential compliance issues.
  • Compiles detailed records including production records, meal counts and other various reports and submits claims to all state and federal child nutrition programs.
  • Assists the Director in developing and updating all Food and Nutrition Services mailings, brochures, newsletters and department correspondence.
  • Assists in training all staff on office technology process as needed processes all work order.
  • Sustains professional growth by attending meetings, seminars and contributing toward meeting the Nutrition Services departmental goals.
  • Coordinates and maintains communication between staff, students, parents, vendors and public who are involved in the program or department.
  • Orders, receives, distributes and inventories office.
  • Maintains positive and effective working relationships with students, staff, parents.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate students’ meal benefit records and enters data according to.
  • Determines eligibility of student applications for assistance.
  • In charge of menu publication.
  • Arranges for substitutes for Nutrition Employee using the Frontline program and making 1-1 phone calls.
  • Assists staff using TimeClock Plus.
