About The Position

Performs secretarial and clerical responsibilities for the Transportation Department. This role includes acting as a telephone receptionist, typing, operating general office equipment, and possessing knowledge of school administration operations, policies, and the scope of authority of the school administration and Board. The position involves interacting with the public, answering routine questions, providing information, and addressing complaints related to the department/district, referring callers to appropriate personnel or arranging appointments as needed. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Capable of typing 50 w.p.m.
  • Capable of performing other office tasks
  • Fluent in Reading, Writing and Speaking English/Spanish
  • Must have computer experience
  • Must pass District Technology Test

Responsibilities

  • Acts as department receptionist.
  • Works independently in meeting the public.
  • Gives information and answers complaints relating to the department/district.
  • Refers callers to appropriate personnel, or if necessary, arranges for an appointment with the Coordinator or designee.
  • Interacts with the public.
  • Answers routine questions.
  • Answers and services telephone calls to Transportation Department.
  • Receives all visitors to Transportation Department Office.
  • Maintains an appointment calendar.
  • Opens, checks and distributes mail addressed to the Coordinator and/or Transportation Department.
  • Transcribes letters, reports; prepares specifications, job-opening forms, and other items.
  • Maintains Transportation Department files.
  • Manages Transportation Department records, including maintaining all transportation records, researching documents as needed, and preparing documents for distribution.
  • Types all purchase requisitions and standing order releases for the Transportation Department, and records them as instructed.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Coordinator or Assistant Superintendent for Business and Financial Services.
