About The Position

This is a full-time position with scheduled weekly hours of 40, working days/afternoons. This role requires flexibility as weekend and holiday work may be needed. The position is within a collective bargaining unit. Requirements

  • High School graduate
  • Advanced training/ knowledge of medical terminology
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Previous patient scheduling experience required
  • Proficient in MS Word
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Proficient use of medical terminology required

Nice To Haves

  • CPT coding experience preferred
  • Cardiology experience preferred
  • Clinical secretarial and registration experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Schedules all tests in the Respiratory Therapy Area for inpatients and outpatients using Epic, ensuring proper Medical Necessity.
  • Explains ABN forms to patients and answers their questions about these forms and testing procedures.
  • Answers incoming calls with excellent customer service, triages and directs calls appropriately, and takes messages as necessary.
  • Finds and faxes reports, checks schedules, schedules patients, and provides instructions.
  • Assists with clerical needs of the department, including copying, mailing, filing, faxing, and sorting mail.
  • Maintains testing logs, accumulates statistical and quality data, and submits monthly reports on time.
  • Maintains proper inventory of office and medical-surgical supplies.
  • Assists in maintaining patient flow through the department.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth by attending educational meetings and classes, and participating in staff meetings and other organizational projects.
  • Supports organizational policies and procedures regarding dress codes, identification badges, work schedules, and PTO time.
  • Promotes a professional self-image and maintains a positive attitude and high commitment to standard practices.
  • Participates in performance appraisal, identifying goals and reviewing progress with a manager or clinical coordinator annually.
  • Assists in other areas of the department as needed.
  • Cleans work area as necessary.
  • Completes work left from previous shifts.
  • Reports suggestions for positive changes or recommendations within departmental policies and procedures to the coordinator.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs other related duties as assigned.
