Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active Secret Clearance and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Accept, sort, manifest, and distribute incoming mail and packages.
  • Maintain accountability logs and tracking for all items picked up and distributed.
  • Prepare and dispatch outgoing mail and apply postage using command-leased equipment or other Government-provided methods.
  • Maintain postal records, operating plans, supplies, and required documentation.
  • Complete required mail volume and postage usage reports, including CDRL A007.
  • Accept deliveries from USPS, FedEx, UPS, and other commercial carriers.
  • Operate a government or company vehicle to pick up and deliver mail and packages across Charleston-area locations as required.
  • Monitor postage equipment operation and coordinate maintenance, repairs, updates, and service with the approved vendor.
  • Monitor the postage balance and notify the Government representative when additional funding is needed to prevent the balance from falling below $1,000.
  • Compile weekly, monthly, and annual postage usage metrics by type.
  • Coordinate secure shredding events with the Government representative and approved shredding vendor.
  • Monitor the availability and condition of secure, locked shredding collection bins throughout designated Charleston facilities.
  • Safeguard CUI, PII, and other sensitive Government material awaiting destruction.
  • Obtain and maintain a Certificate of Destruction after each shredding event, including the number of pounds destroyed.
  • Maintain shredding schedules, service records, certificates, and related documentation.
  • Staff the mailroom from 0700–1530 on business days.
  • Ensure mail and packages are picked up and delivered within one business day and delivered promptly upon receipt.
  • Perform mail services in accordance with OPNAVINST 5218.7D.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit required reports on time.
  • Help ensure postage meter downtime does not exceed 1% annually.
  • Support requested shredding events within one week, up to 12 times per year in the Charleston region.
  • Coordinate shredding services in accordance with SECNAVINST 5211.5E and applicable secure-destruction requirements.
