About The Position

The Secretary 1 is responsible for general correspondence, answering phones, filing, typing, greeting parents and students, and performing other clerical duties as needed. Responsibilities

  • Prepares routine correspondence, memoranda, reports, records, orders, and other office documents from rough drafts, transcribing machines, notes, and specific oral instructions into finished copy.
  • Sorts and files materials, numerically, alphabetically, or by predetermined categories; withdraws material from files upon request and maintains appropriate records of material removed.
  • Operates various general office machines, such as adding machines, calculators, copy machines, collators, decollators, call directories, or other telephone-related devices. Performs basic operations on computers.
  • Prepares reports involving clerical or tabular information, including performing simple calculations.
  • Performs public contact duties.
  • Provides general supervision of the school clinic.
  • Monitors student behavior in the clerk's work area as well as in the hallways as directed.
  • Monitors the sign-in and sign-out process if so directed.
  • Serves as back-up for various office personnel.
  • Orders, receives, and distributes supplies.
  • Registers students for enrollment as directed.
  • Provides assistance to parents, students, staff, and visitors who enter office.
  • Prepares student expulsion packets.
  • Performs basic computer skills such as keyboarding, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
