About The Position

The Department of Education at Elmhurst University invites applications for student teaching supervisors for secondary student teachers getting licensed in World Languages (Spanish). This is a PreK-12 licensure program.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' teaching and/or administrative experience.
  • Must have been a licensed teacher and/or administrator.
  • Experience teaching World Language (Spanish), preferably at the middle school or high school levels.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Education.
  • Demonstrated supervisory knowledge related to World Language pedagogy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work positively with students, teachers, and administrative leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Observe their assigned student teachers six times over the semester.
  • Collaborate with the cooperating teacher to provide mentoring and support to the student teacher and mediate the best resolution to problems if they arise.
  • Attend required professional development and program planning sessions offered through the Department of Education.
  • Complete all required online training for Elmhurst University employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
