About The Position

This position serves as a Team Lead for the shift, supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned staff. The role involves processing employee concerns, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing performance appraisals. The supervisor coordinates, assigns, and reviews work, establishes work schedules, maintains standards, monitors work in progress, and inspects completed assignments. They provide on-the-job training, assess new employees' work, and manage the daily operation of the juvenile detention facility. Responsibilities include transporting juveniles to and from court, school, and recreation activities, monitoring intake and report preparation procedures, and assisting staff in handling difficult situations. The role also involves routine inspections of the facility and equipment, informing maintenance of necessary repairs, and procuring supplies for residents. Reviewing incident reports submitted by the Intake Officer is also a key duty. This role performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent with specialized training supplemented by two (2) years of experience with a juvenile detention center, law enforcement, case work or closely related experience.
  • Must possess a valid state drivers license with acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
  • Requires Juvenile Supervision Officer certification
  • Must speak, read, and write in English.

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-the-job training assignments and assesses work of new employees.
  • Manages the daily operation of the detention facility.
  • Transport juveniles to and from court, school and recreation activities.
  • Monitors intake procedures and report preparation procedures.
  • Assists staff in the handling of difficult or unusual situations.
  • Makes routine inspections of facility and equipment; informs maintenance of necessary repairs.
  • Inventories and procures cleaning, hygiene and clothing supplies for the residents.
  • Reviews incident reports submitted by the Intake Officer.
  • Performs related work as required.
