About The Position

The fundamental reason that this classification exists is to supervise the detention staff and perform administrative duties under the direction of the Detention Director. Major work responsibilities include managing a juvenile detention facility shift, supervising employees, resolving and investigating emergencies and complaints, managing documents and files related to federal, state and professional standards, manages employee training programs, and assisting the director with facility operations. The incumbent is supervised by the Juvenile Detention Director.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal or juvenile justice or a social or behavioral science
• Five (5) years of experience in a secured juvenile facility
• Three (3) years of juvenile facility leadership or supervisory experience
• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Willing to be on-call to respond to emergency incidents as needed
• Possess or be able to attain a valid Alabama Driver’s license within 60 days
• Have an acceptable driving record
