About The Position

The Secondary School Counselor supports students across two Santa Fe South campuses, spending approximately 60% of their time at West Middle School and 40% at Santa Fe South Pathways Middle College. This position plays a critical role in supporting students’ academic planning, social-emotional development, and preparation for postsecondary opportunities. Santa Fe South counselors serve as advocates for students and partners to families, educators, and community organizations. Counselors collaborate closely with site administration, teachers, and district support teams to ensure students receive the services and resources necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This position includes approximately 80% counseling responsibilities and 20% administrative responsibilities, which may include scheduling, testing coordination, and other operational support functions within the school. Counselors work alongside site leaders to support student success but do not administer discipline or consequences. Instead, they partner with leadership to guide behavior support, student problem-solving, and family engagement when students need additional support. Secondary counselors also play an important role in academic planning, graduation progress monitoring, and helping students prepare for college and career opportunities.
