About The Position

Maryville Junior High School is one of the top public schools in the State of Tennessee. We hold high expectations for our staff and students. Requirements

  • Teaching certification in Secondary Mathematics
  • Teaching experience in 7-12 Math (Algebra 1 and/or above preferred)
  • Understanding of pedagogy and central concepts of secondary Math as defined by the Tennessee State Standards

Responsibilities

  • Create lessons, support scenarios, and build environments that promote productive struggles that lead to dynamic student products.
  • Cognitively engage the adolescent learner and facilitate the instructional process, higher-order thinking, problem solving, and real-world connections for students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and appropriate others.
  • Participate in a professional learning community structure focused on increasing student learning and achievement.
  • Implement formative and summative assessments, data analysis, with concrete progress monitoring to increase student ownership, goal setting, and communicating results with stakeholders.
  • Use data to drive instructional decisions through action-based analysis and reflection, which impacts increased student learning.
  • Engage in standards-based grading and create common assessments, lesson plans, and pacing guides with colleagues for both formative and summative purposes.
  • Utilize technology in a blended learning environment (1:1 student/device ratio) to facilitate instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage in high-quality professional development as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education.
  • Perform any physical duties associated with this position (e.g., lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, sitting for long periods of time, walking, seeing, standing for extended periods of time, etc.).
