Waltham Public Schools is seeking dedicated Secondary Special Educators to lead our Substantially Separate ESY programs. These programs serve middle and high school students with significant developmental, communication, and cognitive disabilities who require a highly individualized and predictable summer routine to maintain functional and academic skills. The ideal candidate will have expertise in providing specialized instruction, social-emotional support, and transition-based programming for students within a self-contained environment. Responsibilities include implementing modified academic curricula and functional life skills programming tailored to the specific developmental needs of young adults. A critical component of this role involves the implementation of individualized plans and the consistent collection of data on IEP benchmarks to prevent regression. Beyond direct instruction, the teacher will oversee all aspects of the classroom environment. Administrative duties include reviewing student records to ensure service compliance, managing daily classroom and vocational schedules, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with Waltham families. The teacher will also finalize participation summary reports for each student at the conclusion of the session.
