About The Position

Waltham Public Schools is seeking dedicated Special Educators to lead our elementary Substantially Separate ESY programs. These programs serve students with significant developmental, communication, and cognitive disabilities who require a highly individualized and predictable summer routine to prevent regression. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: providing specialized instruction and social-emotional support to a variety of students, including students with Autism, multiple impairments, emotional and behavioral disabilities, and similar profiles which require instruction within a self-contained environment. The program runs from July 6 – August 6, Monday – Thursday, with student hours from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm. Teacher on-campus hours are 8:15 am – 1:45 pm, plus one hour of daily planning. Compensation is $40.00 per hour with a total stipend of $5,600.00.

Requirements

Valid license in Severe Special Needs (Moderate license may be considered with significant experience in severe settings).
Expertise in providing specialized instruction and social-emotional support to students with Autism, multiple impairments, emotional and behavioral disabilities, and similar profiles requiring instruction within a self-contained environment.

Responsibilities

Implementing modified academic curricula and programming tailored to the specific needs of each program's cohort.
Implementing individualized plans and consistently collecting data on IEP benchmarks.
Overseeing all aspects of the classroom environment.
Reviewing student records to ensure service compliance.
Managing daily classroom schedules.
Maintaining proactive, supportive communication with Waltham families.
Finalizing participation summary reports for each student at the conclusion of the session.
