About The Position
Devereux Day Academy – Laguna Hills is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to serve students in an elementary autism classroom. This role focuses on delivering structured, evidence-based instruction designed to meet the academic, social, communication, and behavioral needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Educational Specialist creates a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment, collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and families, and implements individualized programming that promotes student growth, independence, and positive outcomes within a therapeutic educational setting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid California Mild/Moderate Disabilities Educational Specialist Instruction Credential, added Authorization Autism Spectrum Disorder (AAAS) or California Moderate/Severe Disabilities Educational Specialist Instruction Credential.
- Special Education instruction experience required.
- Experience with IEP documents and the IEP process.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Strong communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum preferred.
