About The Position

Hemlock Public School District is seeking a Secondary ELA Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an English (BA) certification.
  • Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.
  • Successful experience working with middle school-age students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of content expectations/standards pertinent to the grade level.
  • Knowledge of best practices in classroom instruction and technology integration.
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction using research-based strategies across whole-group, small-group, and individualized settings.
  • Plan and implement high-quality lessons that align with state standards and integrate best practices such as explicit instruction, checks for understanding, and differentiated supports.
  • Use a variety of formative and summative assessment tools to monitor student progress, inform instructional decisions, and provide timely, targeted feedback.
  • Establish a structured, respectful classroom environment by consistently applying proactive classroom management techniques, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports.
  • Actively engage in professional learning communities to analyze student data, co-plan lessons, and reflect on instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to foster a culture of academic excellence and a positive school climate.
  • Accept and perform additional administrative responsibilities as assigned.
