About The Position

The High School Pre-BSW certificate program aims to enroll 100 NC high school students annually into a 12-month certificate program over two academic semesters and a summer. This program is projected to reach 400 students within a 5-year grant cycle. The Secondary Education Program Liaison will report to the Secondary Education Program Manager and will be instrumental in the development, launch, and implementation of this certificate program for high school students across North Carolina. The role involves recruiting student participants, conducting orientation and informational sessions for students and their families, processing applications, and maintaining communication with participants and their families throughout their cohort. Additionally, the Liaison will plan and facilitate in-person and hybrid learning experiences to enhance student knowledge and exposure to social work careers and accredited programs within the NC Social Work Workforce Development Coalition. A key responsibility includes collecting program metrics and data for evaluation reports. This position is based in Chapel Hill, NC, and requires up to 25% travel to in-state schools and universities, with potential for national conference presentations. The position is time-limited, with guaranteed funding until June 30, 2027, and the possibility of ongoing renewal.

Requirements

  • Degree in social work, human services, public administration, psychology, public health, education or related field of study.
  • Experience involving NC high schools and/or youth-serving organizations that serve adolescent populations.
  • Experience planning and facilitating learning events, conferences, or other large in-person gatherings.
  • Proficiency in online learning platforms and digital tools for virtual program delivery (e.g. Zoom, Canvas, etc).
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage workload both independently and collaboratively without immediate or direct supervision.
  • Ability to think critically and use conflict resolution skills to solve complex logistical problems involving a variety of populations (e.g. schools, community-based nonprofits, university).
  • Approachable, calm style encourages open communication across essential partners.
