We are seeking an experienced Second Shift Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team and support the safe and efficient operation of our equipment and facilities. This position primarily works outdoors year-round. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong mechanical experience who enjoys developing employees, solving problems, and driving equipment reliability in an industrial environment. Position Summary The Second Shift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating maintenance activities during the second shift to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment, mobile equipment, and support systems. This position provides leadership to maintenance personnel, prioritizes repair work, oversees preventative maintenance programs, and partners with operations to maximize uptime and production performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills, extensive maintenance knowledge, and prior leadership experience in a manufacturing, recycling, aggregate, steel, construction, mining, or similar heavy industrial environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or foreman experience.
  • Strong knowledge of: Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Mechanical systems, Welding and fabrication, Heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supervising maintenance in a recycling, scrap, aggregate, steel, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience with automobile shredders or other large processing equipment.
  • OSHA or safety leadership training.
  • Diesel, electrical, or hydraulic certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor second shift maintenance employees.
  • Schedule work assignments and prioritize daily maintenance activities.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and development of maintenance personnel.
  • Conduct shift meetings and communicate maintenance priorities.
  • Oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and with high-quality workmanship.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for reliability improvements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Supervise maintenance of: Automobile shredder systems, Conveyors and material handling equipment, Hydraulic systems, Mobile equipment and heavy machinery, Material Handlers and related support equipment, Production and processing equipment.
  • Collaborate with operators and managers to identify and correct equipment issues.
  • Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices are followed.
  • Conduct safety observations and maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards.
  • Investigate accidents, equipment damage, and near misses and implement corrective actions.
