About The Position

A Seasonal Yard Driver operates tractors and trailers in the yard safely and efficiently, moving trailers to doors and locations throughout the yard. The role requires backing trailers into dock and yard locations, hooking and unhooking trailers, and communicating with Dispatch, Yard Coordinators, and Operation Managers by radio. The driver follows safety procedures, performs routine vehicle safety inspections, and completes assigned tasks accurately and on time. Job duties may change in response to business needs.

Requirements

• Possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license before starting the role.
• Maintain a positive and respectful attitude when working independently and as part of a team.
• Frequently lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. and infrequently lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Work independently, quickly, and safely.
• Problem-solve and escalate issues when needed.
• Know the functions and systems of tractors and trailers.
• Work in all types of weather conditions.
• Operate all equipment safely.
• Read trailer information, including trailer numbers and safety procedures and protocols.
• Have basic math skills.
• Operate computer systems with minimal direction after training.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred but not required.
