About The Position

CLA is seeking an experienced Seasonal Tax Reviewer to join its tax team in a flexible, collaborative work environment. The position is intended for casual and/or seasonal family members. The role reviews individual, business, partnership, and trust tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance, and serves as a technical resource and escalation point for complex tax questions. It also involves client communication, tax research, planning support, and training and supervision of junior family members.

Requirements

Seven years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree.
CPA required; a JD or Enrolled Agent credential is acceptable in lieu.

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Review prepared tax returns for individuals, businesses, partnerships, or trusts for errors, discrepancies, and required documentation.
Provide guidance to tax preparers and act as a technical resource for complex tax questions.
Frequently interface with client personnel to review and apply accounting and tax principles.
Contact clients by phone or email to gather necessary information.
Review files for required signatures and supporting documentation and compliance with filing due dates.
Obtain filing extensions when necessary.
Perform detailed reviews of tax returns, research, and compliance work, emphasizing calculations, accounting theory, and tax law compliance as appropriate to experience.
Perform work in compliance with the firm's policies and procedures.
Maintain technical tax skills through on-the-job training and internal tax training sessions.
Conduct complex tax research and stay abreast of current tax laws and regulations.
Assist clients with tax planning and business strategy.
Provide training and supervision to junior family members.
