About The Position

As a Tax Reviewer at Uplinq, you provide the final technical review before returns are delivered to clients. You review federal and state returns, including returns prepared with AI, and help tax preparers get returns right the first time. The role uses Claude, Uplinq’s platform, and other tools as appropriate. You are also expected to identify repetitive work and find ways to automate it. Uplinq values tax and AI fluency alongside review experience.

This is a fully remote role for applicants residing in the United States; hiring is limited to select states. Phoenix and Scottsdale candidates are a plus. The stated annual pay range is $85,000 to $105,000, based on credentials, review experience, and AI fluency.

Requirements

• Tax review experience and a background in tax preparation.
• Daily, hands-on use of AI at work and interest in using it more.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Close attention to detail.
• Coachability and initiative, including asking for feedback and speaking up about potential improvements.
• A friendly, professional client voice and strong follow-through.
• Multi-state and multi-entity review experience.
• A valid PTIN, or ability to acquire one before starting.

Nice To Haves

• CPA or EA credential preferred.
• Phoenix or Scottsdale location.

Responsibilities

• Review federal and state returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofits before final sign-off.
• Review returns prepared by the team and by AI.
• Use AI tools, Claude skills, and Uplinq’s platform to speed up reviews and reduce administrative work.
• Verify that QuickBooks Online data ties to Schedule L for clients who keep internal books.
• Identify recurring errors and give preparers clear, direct feedback.
• Suggest process improvements and help build them.
• Answer client questions clearly and follow through until they are resolved.
• Find ways to automate repetitive tasks.
