Requirements

  • At least 1 year of office experience performing clerical work.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office and Window operating systems.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary sitting position for at least 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift at least 15 lbs– specific job duties may require additional lifting to move, transport, position and install equipment.
  • Frequently positions self to bend and lift packages.
  • Occasional moving & lifting of equipment; bending, lifting, climbing required to position self to maintain computers during engagements.
  • Person in position needs to occasionally move about the inside of the office to access machinery, cabinets, etc.
  • Person in position frequently communicates with individuals who have inquiries. Must be able to exchange information in these situations.
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license are required including a clean driving record.
  • Minimum levels of auto insurance coverage are required.
  • Ability to travel locally, work overtime and weekends is required.
  • Ability to travel overnight or internationally may be required.
  • Qualified individuals must either reside in or near the Metro Detroit area or be willing to relocate to the area for this opportunity.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, with the exception of qualified candidates who are bilingual in either Japanese and English or Chinese and English.

  • Experience working for an accounting firm is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble various types of tax returns such as Corporate, Partnership, individual, fiduciary, trusts, and payroll.
  • Responsible for the internal database including updating status steps, setting-up new clients, deleting lost clients, as well as printing out due date reports for Managers.
  • Tracks processing activities including timing and completion.
  • Assess electronically-submitted returns and instruction sheets for completeness/precision.
  • Responsible for scanning documents into SurePrep and learning/using other computer/technology, and tax technology applications (e.g., CCH ProSystem FX, FirmFlow, SuperForms, etc.) will likely be on-the-job training.
