About The Position
MEC is more than a store; it's a hub for the outdoor community, a leader in sustainability, and a place where employees can be themselves. Members visit MEC to try new things and plan new adventures, and the Seasonal Store Advisor plays a key role in facilitating these experiences. The role involves assisting members with gear and advice for various outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, climbing, cycling, watersports, and snowsports. The position also offers a chance to work with passionate and supportive colleagues, fostering a positive work environment.
Requirements
- Ability to work with a diverse, inclusive, hands-on, and collaborative team.
- Passion for the outdoors.

- A customer service-oriented mindset with a commitment to providing excellent member experiences.
- Ability to lift 50 lb. and walk 10,000 steps per day.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus, but not required.
- Curiosity about gear and a desire to learn; training will be provided.
- Fully open availability to work Saturdays or Sundays.
Nice To Haves
- Product knowledge in camping, cycling, packs, or any other outdoor activity.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts between Monday and Friday, 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional member service by matching individuals with gear that meets their specific needs.
- Share personal experience and knowledge about products.
- Assist with visual merchandising and support other team members.
- Organize inventory and ensure members receive the products they require.
- Promote MEC events and services.
- Stay updated on new products, technologies, and features, including sustainability aspects.
- Encourage people to engage in outdoor activities by assisting with planning for trips of all scales.
