About The Position
Macy’s is hiring a Seasonal Retail Selling Colleague to deliver results through selling and genuine hospitality, creating standout holiday shopping experiences. The colleague learns about customers’ needs, provides personalized recommendations, connects customers with products and services, and builds trust and loyalty while working toward sales goals. The role includes supporting customers on the sales floor and in fitting rooms, maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting shopping space, and collaborating with teammates to deliver strong customer and store results. Colleagues prepare for each day by reviewing sales goals, learning about new arrivals, popular products, trends, and promotions, and ensuring the sales floor is ready for customers. During the day, they engage customers in friendly, personal conversations; maintain shoppable spaces through merchandising and other merchandise tasks; communicate loyalty-program benefits; and provide a courteous close to each customer interaction. Seasonal colleagues are typically scheduled to work 10–20 hours per week, depending on business needs and colleague availability.
Requirements
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to read and understand employment policies and safety rules and procedures in English.
- Willingness to meet daily sales-goal challenges.

- Ability to handle electronic devices.
- Ability to talk, lift, move constantly, stand, and reach with arms and hands.
- Ability to stand for at least two consecutive hours and lift at least 25 pounds.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and reach, including above eye level.
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Ability to frequently use computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and cash registers, and process register transactions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver customer-focused selling and genuine hospitality, offering personalized recommendations and connecting customers with appropriate products and services.
- Build customer relationships through warm welcomes, eye contact, and friendly, personal conversations.
- Work toward daily sales goals and contribute to individual and store results.
- Review sales goals and stay informed about new arrivals, top-selling items, trends, and promotions.
- Keep the sales floor clean, organized, prepared, and shoppable.
- Merchandise new receipts; process damages, testers, and select merchandise for return to vendors; update signs and pricing; and support merchandise moves.
- Share the benefits of the Loyalty program and provide customers with a sincere, helpful closing to their shopping experience.
- Collaborate with and support teammates with honesty, care, and a focus on serving customers and communities.
- Learn and improve continuously, taking pride in work and learning from colleagues.
