About The Position

Retail associates are essential to Columbia Sportswear Company’s retail business and help create memorable customer experiences while supporting the Store Leadership team and the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.” As a brand ambassador, the associate provides positive customer interactions and exceptional in-store experiences, using problem-solving and sales abilities to answer questions and make product recommendations while supporting the company’s values of customer service and teamwork.

This seasonal position pays $14 per hour and is open to applicants age 16 and older. The schedule is flexible and may change seasonally or in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts. The role operates in an active environment, with frequent movement and handling items weighing up to 40 pounds. Temporary employees may be eligible for a 401(k) plan with company match subject to age and hours-worked requirements, employee discounts, and Wellness Time Off in accordance with applicable state and local paid leave laws.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to operate inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
• Ability to frequently move about and adjust or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two or fewer years of experience in a position or specialization.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer questions about product features, benefits, and availability, and learn about customers’ needs and preferences.
• Demonstrate and explain merchandise, suggest suitable options, and provide exceptional customer service.
• Maintain visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety standards in the store.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Complete cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program connections, efficiently and accurately.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing products accurately and efficiently to contribute to store profitability.
