About The Position

The Seasonal Redemption Center Assistant supports a short-term project to reduce a backlog of recyclable bottles and cans. The employee will sort and feed containers into bottle-and-can redemption machines, keep the work area clean and orderly, and help the team process material safely and efficiently. This is an entry-level role; training will be provided.

Requirements

  • No prior work experience is required.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality for the assigned seasonal schedule.
  • Ability to work safely, productively, and respectfully as part of a team.
  • If under age 18, ability to provide any employment certificate or work authorization required by law.
  • Applicants must possess basic computer aptitude and be able to speak/write in English.

Responsibilities

  • Sort recyclable bottles and cans by material type or other categories as directed.
  • Feed bottles and cans into redemption machines at a steady, safe pace.
  • Remove rejected containers and place them in the appropriate collection area.
  • Bag, move, stack, or otherwise handle processed containers and recycling materials as directed.
  • Keep floors, machine areas, containers, carts, and surrounding workspaces clean and free of debris.
  • Perform routine cleanup, including sweeping, wiping surfaces, and disposing of trash and non-redeemable material.
  • Follow machine-use instructions and immediately report jams, malfunctions, spills, hazards, or injuries to the supervisor; do not attempt unauthorized repairs.
  • Use required personal protective equipment and follow all safety, sanitation, and recycling procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with coworkers and follow supervisor instructions and production priorities.
  • Perform other related duties needed to complete the seasonal backlog project
