About The Position

Boys & Girls Clubs of East Alabama is seeking motivated and caring individuals to serve as Youth Development Professionals (Mentors) for their after-school and camp programming. These mentors will play a crucial role in ensuring youth have access to opportunities, resources, and inclusive environments, supporting their social-emotional development, physical and mental wellness, and academic success. Mentors act as positive role models, creating safe, engaging, and structured experiences for club members.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Experience working with youth, particularly in after-school, camp, or community-based settings
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage group behavior and maintain a safe, respectful environment
Interest or experience in at least one program area
Basic computer skills
Must successfully pass a criminal background check upon hire and annually thereafter
Must submit a Child Abuse & Neglect (CAN) Form
Must comply with all Boys & Girls Clubs of America training, screening, and hiring requirements

Nice To Haves

Some college preferred
Valid State Driver’s License preferred

Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and lead structured activities within assigned program areas
Support priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship
Supervise youth to ensure safety, positive behavior, and engagement
Serve as a positive role model and build meaningful relationships with members
Maintain attendance and participate in daily program routines
Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of program spaces
Support special events, enrichment activities, and field trips as needed
Perform other duties as assigned in support of program and organizational needs
