About The Position

As a Retail Associate at Columbia Sportswear Company, you serve as a brand ambassador and help create exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer customer questions, make product recommendations, and support the company’s values of customer service and teamwork. Associates also support store operations, product availability, visual presentation, and efficient checkout while helping the Store Leadership team advance the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.”

Requirements

• No specific education is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Up to 2 years of experience in a position or specialization.
• Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
• Ability to frequently move about in an active environment and frequently adjust or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by responding to questions or issues about product features, benefits, and availability.
• Engage with consumers to understand their needs and preferences; demonstrate and explain merchandise and suggest suitable options.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Perform cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program connections, efficiently and accurately.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing products accurately and efficiently to contribute to store profitability.
