About The Position

The Marine Fisheries Research (MFR) program conducts community-based collaborative research and education, working directly with fishers and shellfish farmers primarily in the Cape Cod region.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Marine Science or a related field
  • Prior experience working on the water
  • Data entry and data management skills
  • Familiarity with and interest in science and policy related to marine fisheries
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift 50 and drag 100 pounds and comfort working outside or at sea for up to twelve hours

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and participate in field work and laboratory work on outer Cape Cod, primarily from Orleans to Provincetown
  • Data entry and management of field notes
  • Data management (Google Suite and Microsoft Office)
  • Take thorough notes in the field
  • Perform preliminary data exploration and analysis
  • Perform field work both on land and on sea
  • Generate tables and figures for internal and external reports
  • Maintain equipment, freezer, and video inventory
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible and adapt to weather and personnel availability
