About The Position

The Port of Everett, established in 1918, is dedicated to creating economic opportunities and preserving the waterfront for the community. It operates three lines of business: international shipping terminals, marina facilities, and real estate development. The Port manages the largest public marina on the West Coast with over 2,300 recreational boating slips and a 13-lane public boat launch. Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months related work or volunteer experience.
  • Related work experience in janitorial, groundskeeping, light maintenance, and working with the public is desirable.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic understanding of methods, practices, and tools common to various construction trades, including carpenter, electrician, plumber, concrete finisher, and painter.
  • Ability to operate and use basic landscaping and maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general groundskeeping of Port property, including sweeping, raking, shoveling, painting, power washing, garbage disposal, and recycling.
  • Perform fall landscaping maintenance, including leaf removal, pruning, debris clean-up, seasonal planting preparation, and maintaining walkways and grounds during changing weather conditions.
  • Perform janitorial work throughout the Port marina facilities on an as-needed basis.
  • Operate equipment such as Port Vehicles, rolling stock, and other equipment for maintenance and landscaping purposes.
  • Support seasonal marina maintenance at the end of the boating season, including winterizing facilities, assisting with dock and equipment preparation, and completing related clean-up tasks.
  • Demonstrate strong integrity and consistently uphold high work standards, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and responsibly.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, maintaining focus and delivering results in any setting.
  • Maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude that supports a welcoming environment and contributes to effective daily operations.
  • Assist with set-up and tearing down of Port events.
  • Operate a motorized club cart to assist Marina guests and tenants in accessing various Marina locations.
  • Act as the Port’s agent at the marina fuel dock.
  • Assist customers with securing and fueling of vessels.
  • Collect all monies associated with fuel dock sales and balance the fuel dock till daily.
  • Report sales and inventory balances to the Marina Office on a daily basis.
  • Assist in resolving any fuel inventory or sales discrepancies.
  • Observe all company, health, safety, and environmental rules, ensuring proper information on area-specific safety issues, identification of unique hazards, and provision of proper equipment for safe job execution.
  • Maintain the work area to a high standard of housekeeping and a low incidence of physical hazards.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and employee handbook guidelines, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance in daily operations.
  • Report all incidents and accidents promptly to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Provide assistance with special projects, tasks, and other duties as assigned.
