About The Position

Sparton is seeking Seasonal Machine Operators for 1st Shift positions. This role involves learning to assemble and build electro-mechanical Maritime products. Seasonal work is available throughout the year for candidates who can successfully complete pre-employment requirements and Post Offer Employment testing. Initial and ongoing On-The-Job training is provided, offering opportunities to increase skills and advance to more complex assembly/build roles with higher hourly pay. The 1st Shift hours are 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Please note that seasonal hires are not eligible for Sparton benefits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required and will be verified.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written work instructions in English.
  • Ability to add/subtract whole numbers, fractions, and decimals using direct reading, gauges, rulers, and scales.
  • Ability to work with Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses and gloves.
  • Successfully completing a 1-hour on-site, Post Offer Employment Test.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.

  • Prior experience with production is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging, assembly, and manufacturing of Sparton products in accordance with documented requirements and specifications to meet customer quality standards.
  • Performing mechanical and/or electrical operations or assemblies involving fixed indicating meters, in-circuit test/functional test, marking machines, jigs & fixtures, packaging equipment, various types of fastening devices involving power operations, hand tools and gauges (fixed, micrometers, calipers, rulers).
  • Utilizing various tools including scanners, tablets, and computers.
  • Assembling and/or repairing printed wiring assemblies (PWA), subassemblies, instruments, and final assemblies of various components utilizing a wide range of tools, work processes, and skills to approved documented procedures/specifications.
  • Performing soldering operations including board, wires, and connectors.
  • Performing quality inspections on materials and finished product, including product packaging, labels, and weights.
  • Notifying responsible personnel of out-of-specification observations and assisting in resolution.
  • Reporting and/or correcting safety issues and maintaining proper safety conditions of equipment and work area.
  • Participating in training, pre-shift meetings, team assignments, and audits.
  • Performing daily clean-up of assigned work areas.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
