About The Position

The Signs and Markings Team in Douglas County is responsible for the manufacture, installation, and maintenance of traffic control signs and pavement markings, which are crucial for community infrastructure and public safety. This seasonal role, running from March through November, offers a unique opportunity to work on a team that contributes to keeping Douglas County beautiful, organized, and safe. The work involves covering all unincorporated roads in the county, ensuring that each day brings new challenges and experiences. The position is a full-time temporary role with a 4-day work week during the summer months.

Requirements

A high school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of Colorado drivers license at time of hire.
A copy of Motor Vehicle Record is required at time of interview.
Must obtain a Colorado Department of Transportation Flaggers Certification within six weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

Operates equipment including forklifts, pickups, and single axle trucks.
Assists in the manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of traffic control signs throughout unincorporated Douglas County in accordance with the latest version of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
Assists with the installation of pavement markings throughout unincorporated Douglas County in accordance with the latest version of the MUTCD.
Performs routine maintenance and operation of equipment.
Ability to obtain a Colorado Department of Transportation Flaggers Certification Card within six weeks of employment.
Will perform other duties as assigned.
In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required.
