The Club Dining Host supervises and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to patrons. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc’s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring lasting impressions of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests. This seasonal employment is expected to conclude on October 16, 2026. The Host creates the first impression on the phone or in person. It is a position that is essential to the efficient and smooth operation of the dining room to ensure that customers have a positive dining experience and to ensure that employees have appropriate supervisory guidance. La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is a fifth-generation, family-owned and operated company dedicated to the operation of a 21-acre beachside resort. The resort encompasses three properties, including the exclusive 90-room La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, the 128-room La Jolla Shores Hotel and the award-winning Marine Room restaurant. Resort amenities include 13 championship tennis courts, 5 pickleball courts, a nine-hole Par-3 golf course, two swimming pools, three oceanfront restaurants and cocktail lounges, and one of Southern California’s only private beaches

Requirements

• Consistently provide professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly service
• Promote and follow LJBTC, Inc's Signature Service standards and requirements to ensure a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in satisfied and loyal members and guests
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic math.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Schedules dining reservations and arranges parties or special services for diners following set procedures.
• Arranges parties or special services for meals following the setup procedures.
• Greets members and guests in a friendly and courteous manner, escorts them to tables, and provides menus.
• Promptly answers all incoming calls and accurately handles reservations and message taking.
• Assigns workstations and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to ensure prompt and courteous service to patrons.
• Inspects dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and requisitions table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.
• Delegates responsibility with follow-up to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness.
• Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints.
• Inspects “side work” (preparation and closing work) assignments to assure tasks are completed.
• Assigns work to bar staff and expedites food orders.
• Collects and processes payments from customers.
• Totals receipts at the end of shift and collects server transactions.
• Verifies sales and clears cash register.
• Responsible for opening/closing procedures of Dining Room.
• Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
• Other duties may be assigned.
