About The Position

This position’s purpose is to weigh and cut product to meet production order specifications. The role involves activating machines, setting up material for raw hop processing, and working with labeling and small pack requests. The individual will weigh, cut, and package product efficiently and accurately, recording weight, temperature, and moisture. They will also receive imports, adjust weights, label product for storage and shipment, set up bales by lot number and variety, and maintain records of product by lot number, bale number, and weight. Daily process documentation, copying required paperwork, and submitting processed pounds to the supervisor are key duties. The role requires timely execution of operations and packaging, conferring with supervision to assess progress and discuss changes, and continuously seeking process efficiency improvements. Collaboration with team members and adherence to Lean Manufacturing Principles in the Pellet Plant are expected. Maintaining a sanitary and safe work environment, following safety requirements, and ensuring compliance with company safety policies and relevant regulations are crucial. A complete understanding of company policies, the Employee Handbook, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP, and cGMP pertaining to the department is necessary for quality, safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The role also involves examining documents, materials, and products, monitoring work processes, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, preferred but not required.
  • Excellent mathematical, communication and computer skills.
  • Be strongly detail oriented and be able to easily multi-task.
  • Should be able to independently initiate, prioritize, and perform or solve work problems and ultimately achieve work objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with co-workers, supervisor and management.
  • Written skills are necessary to properly fill out paperwork.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Follow written (Standard Operating Procedures -SOP’s, company memos & emails) and verbal Instructions.
  • Minimum of six months related experience with demonstrated aptitude to learn on-the-job.
  • Familiarity with plant equipment operation and SOPs.
  • Possess a strong work ethic to positively contribute to the company’s mission, vision, values and environmental policy and quality policy.
  • Must have a positive attitude, support co-workers to obtain desired objectives, and assist others in their contributions.
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time and access stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat occasionally to frequently.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (in required areas) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift (up to 50 lbs), carry (up to 44 lbs) occasionally to frequently within normal limits.
  • Ability to adapt to changing paces and processes quickly.
  • Attentive to the task and own surroundings.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh and cut product to meet production order specifications.
  • Activate machines and set up material for raw hop processing.
  • Work with labeling and/or small pack for requests and double-checking the labels.
  • Weigh, cut and package product efficiently and with the utmost accuracy.
  • Record the weight, temperature and moisture of product.
  • Receive the imports for processing and packaging by the different weight adjustments.
  • Label and re-label cut product for storage and shipment.
  • Set up the bales by lot number as well as variety.
  • Keep track of product by lot number, bale number and weight.
  • Document daily process (density, temperatures, powder fines, moisture etc.).
  • Make copies of paperwork required in the Plant (work orders, production logs, pick sheets etc.).
  • Submit LBS processed to the supervisor.
  • Execute all operations and packaging of product in a timely manner.
  • Confer with department supervision or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve process efficiency and notify immediate supervisor of observations and recommendations.
  • Meet with department supervisor and team members to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Work in conjunction with Lean Manufacturing Principles in the Pellet Plant.
  • Maintain sanitary and safe work environment.
  • Follow safety requirements.
  • May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
  • Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  • Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, Employee Handbook, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department, to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  • Must adhere to all company policies.
  • Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Follow all SOPs in a given area.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
