About The Position

The Seasonal Gardens & Grounds Assistant works with Henry Ford Estate’s Gardens & Grounds team to maintain the 17-acre national historic landmark, Fair Lane. This is an ideal summer job for a high school senior, college student, or a career-change seeker who enjoys the outdoors. Flexible weekday hours (up to 40 per week). This position is temporary and will end on or before August 28, 2026.

Requirements

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Demonstrated interest and ability to work outdoors.
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to stand and move around public areas of the Estate for extended periods of time.
• Must be comfortable working outside in unfavorable conditions.
• Must be able to exert force of up to 25 pounds frequently.
• The position involves frequent working on knees, reaching, crouching, and lifting; and using a lawn mower, blower and weed whip with training provided.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in landscaping or gardening a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs gardens and grounds maintenance duties such as flower bed weeding, mulching, lawn mowing, edging, leaf blower use, planting herbaceous and woody plants, fertilizing plants, watering, etc.
