About The Position

This role is responsible for monitoring pre-harvest and harvest for quality and quantity in a timely manner. The Seasonal Fruit Evaluator will also estimate crop yields and assist with harvest sequencing. The company, POM Wonderful, is a major grower and producer of pomegranates and pomegranate-based products, with extensive operations in California's Central Valley.

  • Supplementary training and/or designations related to the quality assurance or food safety field, or equivalent education and experience, is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor pre-harvest and harvest for quality and quantity in a timely manner.
  • Estimate crop yields.
  • Assist with harvest sequencing.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License in good standing to operate a company vehicle.
  • Assist in Fruit Evaluation Management team duties.
  • Monitor crop volumes and fruit sizing across various ranches.
  • Track trees for in-field fruit cataloging of characteristics and growth.
  • Assist in the harvest sequence and direction of harvest crews.
  • Learn fruit sampling techniques for fruit grading and maturity analysis.
  • Assist in data entry and management of scientific resources.
  • Training and supervision of seasonal workers.
  • Frequent travel to and from fields will be necessary (vehicle and fuel will be provided).
