About The Position

Childcare Assistant Counselors provide safety and well-being while befriending children (infants-kindergarten) to nurture spiritual growth through program activities and curriculum in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values. The Childcare Assistant Counselor is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.

Requirements

  • At least two years of High School
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified.
  • Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
  • Love for children of all ages is essential; capable of providing strong Christian role model to children.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and possess problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of providing children with a strong Christian role model.
  • Ability to take directions and complete tasks as assigned.
  • Possess a positive and cheerful demeanor.
  • Reliable and hardworking.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with working with children in ministry settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide for the physical and spiritual welfare of campers through discipline and guidance of children.
  • Provide clear and open communication with parents regarding their child’s/children’s well-being with special attention to overall well-being, safety and discipline.
  • Assist in small and large group teaching of curriculum as well as in crafts, music, drama, group games, etc.
  • Share in the responsibilities of keeping camp areas including workspaces and supplies clean and orderly.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
