About The Position

The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) is Massachusetts’ premier conservation and preservation organization. Founded in 1891, The Trustees’ preserves properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value in Massachusetts for public use and enjoyment. This role is for the 'Halloween on the Hill' event at Long Hill, which has become a very popular family-friendly event attracting significant visitation. The concessions tent is located halfway through the trail and offers refreshments. The Concessions Manager will manage a team of three Signature Event Assistants each night to set up, ensure smooth operations, and close the concessions tent. This role also involves being the primary cashier and reconciling sales. The event runs throughout October, with specific dates provided. The role begins a week prior to the event for training and setup, and continues through mid-November for breakdown. This is a seasonal, non-exempt position.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • 1-3 years of supervision experience
  • Excellent “people skills” to lead, inspire, motivate, and work cooperatively and harmoniously with fellow employees, volunteers, members, and the public.
  • Excellent organization and task management skills.
  • Retail and customer service experience required
  • Experience managing a team
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Proven ability to complete assigned tasks and projects, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong commitment to the mission of The Trustees of Reservations.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
  • A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record
  • The ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Push and pull heavy objects
  • Climb ladder
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of three Signature Event Assistants each night to set up for the event, ensure smooth operations, and close at the end of the night.
  • Serve as the primary cashier and reconcile sales at the end of each evening.
  • Work in concert with the Visitor Services and Retail Manager communicating frequently about concessions needs.
  • Train Event Associates during the run of show to set tone in concessions for smooth operations.
  • Handle money and operate the Point of Sale System (POS).
  • Clean up each night including bringing trash to the dumpster.
  • Communicate with Managers on Duty regularly each night as needed.
  • Assist with breakdown after the event.
