About The Position

The Community Donations Coordinator cultivates and steward donors to help build the pipeline of in-kind and financial support for Metropolitan Ministries. Primary duties include cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting for in-kind donations. Requires considerable, extensive public contact, strong organizational, telephone, computer, and communications skills and a high degree of discretion with respect to confidential and sensitive issues. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Metropolitan Ministries.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associates degree, or commensurate experience in customer service, relationship-building, or other relevant field, and minimum 1 year of successful nonprofit, development experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business software required.
  • Attention to detail is required for Essential Responsibilities outlined, including 1 to 2 years proven experience in a related field.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent oral skills, including phone presence.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and handle job-related matters in a professional manner.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving and good time management skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Computer and office equipment literate.
  • Web-based research tools and Microsoft Office products knowledge required, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals.
  • Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population.
  • Must demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity.
  • Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Must pass applicable pre-employment screening and demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Friendly, customer service, telephone, or outbound sales experience preferred.
  • Prefer demonstrated proficiency with and working knowledge of CRM database.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional hospitality and customer service to donors, volunteers, community groups, and partners.
  • Coordinate scheduling, communications, and support for donation drives, volunteer activities, and holiday initiatives to ensure a positive experience.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries and engagement opportunities.
  • Build and strengthen relationships through timely communication, stewardship, appreciation efforts, and follow-up that encourages continued involvement and support.
  • Maintain accurate donor, volunteer, and community partner records within Virtuous and other tracking systems.
  • Document interactions, update constituent information, track activities, and assist with reporting and data management.
  • Provide administrative support for community engagement, donor experience, and holiday operations, including scheduling, correspondence, preparation of materials, organization of files, and special projects.
  • Demonstrate a passion for the mission of Metropolitan Ministries while working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
