About The Position

This seasonal position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and administrative support at an assigned site, specifically the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center. Key duties include greeting visitors, answering inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email, and handling complaints. The role also involves general clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, record keeping, and preparing mailings. The individual will be responsible for opening, operating, and closing the site's visitor center, maintaining a clean environment, and processing merchandise sales. This includes pricing, operating cash registers, handling payments, managing inventory, and organizing storage. Additionally, the position assists with preparing and distributing promotional materials and is expected to foster a safe, clean, organized, and hazard-free working environment while delivering excellent customer service and supporting a positive, team-oriented workplace.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older at the time of hire depending on requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems.
  • Social and situational perceptiveness.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Coordination when dealing and working with others.
  • Dealing effectively with the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service, retail, or a related field is preferred.
  • Point of sales systems knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome visitors to the site, providing friendly and helpful assistance.
  • Answer visitor inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email, providing accurate and detailed information about the center's offerings, exhibits, and services.
  • Handle complaints or issues with patience and professionalism.
  • Perform general clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, record keeping, and preparing mailings.
  • Open, operate, and regularly close the site's visitor center.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized visitor center environment.
  • Process merchandise sales and handle supplies, including pricing merchandise, operating cash registers, handling payments, maintaining accurate inventory records, cleaning shelves and displays, and operating the storage of merchandise.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of promotional materials, brochures, and visitor guides.
  • Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits that supports a clean, organized and hazard-free environment.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and support a positive, team-oriented workplace.
  • Perform other duties as required.
